Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL) is a district government association formed and managed by the district government in order to realize sustainable development that protects the environment and improves the welfare of the community through mutual cooperation. As a forum, LTKL functions to help member districts develop implementation strategies, connect with the right partners to increase capacity & get incentives for sustainable development efforts as well as share opportunities and challenges for sustainable development to the public. With the many activities they handled, LTKL felt they needed a new business unit that could help them manage these activities and support their work. They brought in Instellar to help them identify a profitable arm suitable with their organization.

Our Approach

LTKL had one key objective:

• To have a self-sustaining business unit that helps LTKL sustain its operation in the long run

Instellar set an 8-month course of action to identify possible business opportunities for LTKL and design an actionable plan to help LTKL establish a new business unit. We first focused on conducting internal analysis to understand LTKL’s vision and core competencies better and external analysis to identify the market situation and industry overview. Once we had identified a suitable business idea, we developed a business plan and conducted market testing.

Outcomes

In our work with LTKL, we delivered several outputs:

✔ Marketing plan

✔ Financial projection

✔ Human resources plan

With the thorough plans we developed, LTKL went on to establish PT Tanah Air Lestari (TAL), a profitable arm that offers service to the government whose income will be used to support LTKL’s pro-bono activities. Within a year of its establishment, TAL has generated a higher income than what was projected in the business plan.
