I-SEA Impact Business Days Highlights: Bringing together the Indonesian

It’s a wrap! The I-SEA Impact Business Days, the culmination event  of the first I-SEA (Instellar & IKEA Social Entrepreneur Accelerator) programme, was held on 7-8 June 2023 at the Pullman Thamrin Hotel, Jakarta. Let’s take a peek at some of the highlights of this exciting event.

We were delighted that more than 200 participants from diverse backgrounds ranging from investors, corporates, social enterprises and ecosystem enablers joined the I-SEA Impact Business Days. Over the two-day event, participants engaged in a  series of activities such as panel discussions, exhibitions, pitching sessions, and networking to collaborate with potential corporate partners, investors and venture capitals.

Media Brunch

The event started with a media brunch where the journalists heard inspiring stories and had the opportunity to ask IKEA Social Entrepreneurship, Instellar, IKEA Indonesia, and social enterprise leaders about their experience with the I-SEA programme.

Welcome Address from Ministry of Cooperatives and SME

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Muhammad Firdaus, S.E., M.M, Deputy Assistant for Micro Business Protection and Facilitation, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SME. He noted that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the national economy, with the sector contributing 61.9% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and absorbing 97% of the workforce. However, their success does not solely hinge on innovation or compliance, but also on overcoming hurdles in challenges in domestic marketing and access to financing – challenges addressed by business accelerator programmes like I-SEA.

Social Enterprise Pitching

The 10 social enterprises in the programme – I-SEA Changemakers – gave presentations to corporate audiences with the aim to catalyse  potential collaborations and integrations with the corporate value chain. The pitches were an opportunity to showcase the social enterprise’s mission, impact goals, and business model, highlight its unique value proposition, and demonstrate how it creates positive social or environmental impact while generating sustainable revenue.
